Thanks for tip on redirecting errors.
Thanks, I was also thinking of same way to deal with large number of error 404 pages on my site which are no longer exists but, according to SEOMOZ redirecting this huge amount of pages could actually slow down your site. ”Not Found If you have an old page or a large set of pages that you want completely erased, it is ok to let these 404. It is actually the Google recommended way to let the Googlebot know which pages you do not want anymore.“
I can link the source page, but linking external URL might make my comment as spam.
Regards.
Thanks for info, but actually no one knows better than you about your blog so don’t apply everything what other said.
I can see more than 600 Not Found pages in Webmasters Tool some are tags, some are posts, categories etc etc. It is not possible to manually add 301 redirection using any plugin like what you said. Do you know how this can be done using .htaccess? I have not found any resource pointing to that perfectly. Well, your method is excellent for small number of errors.
